DOLE Orders Closure of Sausage Factory After Worker Died in Meat Mixer
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) eyes the closure of sausage factory in Iloilo over the gruesome death of its worker in meat mixer.
Last weekend, the reports regarding the gruesome death of a sausage factory worker after his torso caught in meat mixer have been the headlines of local news outlets.
The frozen food store employee identified as Jomar Junco is working at the factory for only about two weeks.

Recently, the Labor Department is now planning to shut down Akhira’s Allan Store (Manokan & Frozen Foods) in Barangay Mansaya, Lapuz, Iloilo City due to the incident.
DOLE found out that the store has no permit and no safety officer inside the establishment.

The Occupational Safety and Health Standards Act explained that companies should posts safety signage and assign safety officers in the working area.

The Labor Department also distressed that the factory also failed to submit a report regarding the gruesome death of their employee.

The factory owner said that the company lacks knowledge regarding DOLE’s regulations but they are willing to submit the necessary requirements.
