One of the greatest actors in the Philippine entertainment industry has passed away. Undeniably, the record set by Eddie Garcia who recently died seems impossible to surpass.
Tito Eddie is an actor and a filmmaker who has served the industry for seventy years. In both fields, he brought home numerous awards and recognition.
Last June 8, countless people were left shocked and saddened by the reports about Eddie Garcia’s accident on the set. The veteran actor tripped on a cable wire during the taping for Rosang Agimat.
Rosang Agimat is the supposed comeback project of Eddie Garcia under GMA-7. However, the unexpected incident left him in critical condition for 12 days due to cervical fracture.
Tito Eddie was in a state of comatose in Makati Medical Center. He fought for his life as observed by his partner, Lilibeth Romero, and his doctors.
In June 20, at 4:55 in the afternoon, Eddie Garcia died. He’s survived by his partner Lilibeth, son Erwin, his step-children, and family. His remains were cremated just a few hours after his passing.
It’s really the wish of Tito Eddie to be cremated. In a previous interview, he even shared that he wanted his remains to be cremated from the hospital and then to be scattered in Manila Bay.
Undeniably, many are curious as to why the veteran actor wanted it to be that way. Recently, his son broke his silence.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Eddie Garcia’s son Erwin revealed why the veteran actor wanted his ashes to be scattered in Manila Bay.
In a statement, Erwin stated that when he was with the military, the deployment of the veteran actor was held in Luneta that is why he wanted his ashes scattered in Manila Bay.
According to the report, Tito Eddie was among the Philippine Scout troops who were sent to Okinawa, Japan during the World War 2.
Currently, Eddie Garcia’s ashes are already in an urn. A memorial service was held at Heritage Park in Taguig City and a folded Philippine flag was placed in front of the veteran actor’s urn.
