100 Dogs To Be Euthanized If Not Adopted

These Dogs Will Be Euthanized If Nobody Shows Up To Adopt Them

100 DOGS – Euthanasia or mercy killing of 100 dogs in a dog compound in San Jose Del Monte was put aside for a while to wait for adoption.

Domesticated dogs are probably the most popular pet choice in most countries. Dogs, other than being great companions can serve several other purposes such as: guide dogs, guard dogs, for show, etc.

Check out this clip of a dog who dove into the ocean to collect trash.

Meanwhile, in this dog compound at Bulacan, 100 dogs are to be subjected to euthanasia after nobody showed up to claim them. These dogs can still be saved by adopting them at the city veterinary office.

Almost all these dogs were taken from the streets with no one taking care of them. Some of these dogs are now ill, while some are still doing great.

These dogs are set to be euthanized this Saturday, but the City’s Veterinary Office decided to put the matter to side for a while.

Dr. Alejandro Enciso – Regulatory Service Division at SJDM explained the process on deciding to euthanize the dogs saying:

“As a matter of routine po yung ginagawa namin, pag nakikita namin na may nag-a-adopt, interesado pa sila, we extend. Yung euthanasia last recourse namin kung talagang walang a-adopt, yung  matitira, sinu-subject namin sa euthanasia.”

[What we’re doing is a matter of routine. If we see that people are still adopting, that they’re still interested, we extend. Euthanasia is our last recourse if nobody wants to adopt, the remaining (dogs), we subject them to euthanasia.]

It was also stated under the Anti-rabies act that unclaimed dogs that are brought to the pound are available for adoption after three days when no one shows up to adopt them. If nobody showed up, they are to be subjected to euthanasia.

This is according to the report of Susan Enriquez on GMA News TV’s “Quick Response Team”.

There were people coming to the pound to adopt, but the process can’t be held down for long because keeping the dogs also cost a lot of money.

Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) also stated that the dog population is growing bigger since dog owners don’t castrate their dogs.

That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
