De Lima Calls DFA To Help Pinay OFWs & Kids Who Are Set To Be Deported from Israel
Former Senator Leila De Lima is now calling the Philippine government to assist the Pinay OFWs and their children who are set to be deported from Israel.
Around 100 Filipina workers and their Israeli-born children are set to be deported by Israel’s Population and immigration Authority in July 2019.
The Israel’s Population and immigration Authority would deport the Pinay workers because their visas were not renewed.
The Filipino workers, mostly as caregivers, gave birth in the country leaving them without any legal status although they have entered Israel legally.
On Monday (June 17, 2019), detained Senator De Lima called the attention of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to ensure the rights of the Filipino workers and their children in Israel who are set to be deported.
“Dapat ibigay ng DFA ang lahat ng kailangang tulong para masigurong protektado ang karapatan ng ating mga manggagawang Pilipino at kanilang mga anak na naiipit sa sitwasyon,” De Lima said.
The former lawmaker said that the government should ensure that the livelihood of Pinay workers would not be affected and their children’s welfare would not be compromised.
