Luzon Grid Under Yellow Alert on Thursday (June 13), NGCP Says

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced that the Luzon Grid has been placed again under yellow alert.

On Thursday morning (June 13, 2019), the Twitter page of “MERALCO” reported that NGCP placed the Luzon Grid under yellow alert again due to insufficient operating reserve.

Luzon Grid’s peak demand has already reached 10,921 MegaWatts while the plant’s available capacity is at 11,839 MW.

Here is the yellow alert schedule:

  • 10:01 am to 11:00 am
  • 1:01 pm to 4:00 pm

Yellow Alert indicates that the reserves of the biggest plant online in Luzon with 647 megawatts are less than its capacity.

The yellow alert does not also mean that power interruption will be imposed.
