The Ninoy Aquino International Airport, also referred to as Manila international Airport is currently serving passengers from Manila and Nearby towns. Recently, the airport served Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, and he had a few suggestions on needed improvements.

Meanwhile, arriving planes at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), last Sunday, were delayed from their set schedules following a Red Lightning Alert. The alert made the airport officials temporarily suspend ground activities for ramps and actual flights.

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) disclosed information behind the delayed arrivals, in their statement which said:

“NAIA is now experiencing a succession of flight arrivals as a result of a 2.5 hours suspension of ground movement for ramp personnel and flights. This is due to a red lightning alert that prevailed from 6:40PM until 9:15PM last night (June 9).”

Ramp activities resumed normal operations by 10pm.

MIAA, also revealed that they are working with NAIA to hasten the process by helping to address the issue quickly. The collaborative effort was made with intentions to resume regular flight schedules sooner.

There were seven affected international and domestic flights that were transferred to Clark International Airport.

Due to the bad weather, these flights were diverted:

• CD 624: Bangkok – Manila (Thai Airways)
• CX 903: Hong Kong – Manila (Cathay Pacific)
• 2P2 860: Cebu – Manila (PAL Express)
• 2P2 818: Davao – Manila (PAL Express)
• 5J 998: GenSan – Manila (Cebu Pacific)
• 5J 854 Zambo – Manila (Cebu Pacific)
• 5J 480 Bacolod – Manila (Cebu Pacific)

This is according to an article from Manila Bulletin.

The Red Lightning Alert was raised by the MIAA to avoid possible lightning-related incidents that may harm passengers, airplane personnel and other people on board.

MIAA also apologized for the slight inconvenience for passengers and is hoping for their understanding towards the matter.

That is all there is to it, at least for now, we’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
