President Duterte Ordered a Deeper Probe On PhilHealth Anomalies
DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Duterte wanted to have a deeper probe on PhilHealth anomalies.
PhilHealth is a government-owned health insurance corporation that was created in 1995.
It has helped lots of people who have problems with their hospital bills and medicines. It gave them discounts or sometimes they don’t have to spend any dime at all.
However, there are just some people who take advantage of government funds.
Philhealth sued a dialysis center who allegedly claim the benefits of their dead patients.
The acting president of the agency, Roy Ferrer, said they filed 28 counts of administrative cases against the center.
Spokesperson of PhilHealth Dr. Shirley Domingo also confirmed that they have been probing over 8,000 cases of fraudulent acts.
“We are investigating a lot of cases and kung mayroon ngang kasabwat ay talagang mahahanap po natin ‘yan at we will give necessary due process and penalty,” she said.
Based on a report, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered to probe deeper into reports that some PhilHealth officials could be involved in the anomaly.
Palace spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the president wants to press charges against those officials.
“We will put a stop to this corruption and we will make sure that the law on universal health care is strictly enforced,” said Panelo.
According to the report, Salvador Panelo reiterated that Duterte and his whole administration wants to eliminate corruption in the country.
“All persons involved in the alleged fraud will be prosecuted and face accountability. They shall reap the harshest penalty imposed by law. Nothing can shield them from prosecution and punishment,” he said.
We can all hope that the person or people who are involved in this anomaly at the government health insurance will be captured very soon.
