World’s Biggest Mango Sago Is Served During Cebu Mangoes Festival

BIGGEST MANGO SAGO – The world’s biggest mango sago was served during Cebu mangoes festival.

One of the best tropical fruits the Philippines can brag about is the mangoes. The mangoes from the little island in Guimaras was considered one of the most delicious mangoes in the world.

In fact, Guimaras mangoes were served in Buckingham Palace and the White House.

During the summer season, the markets in the country are flooded with mangoes. Due to this, farmers just sold their fruits at a very cheap price.

In a previous article, a Japanese firm is set to purchase a huge volume of mangoes from the Philippines.

The Department of Agriculture will lead the meeting of the Japanese fruit company and the local fruit farmers.

Due to the oversupply of mangoes, Cebu City took the initiative to make use and showcase the “biggest mango sago (tapioca) dessert in the world.”

Based on a report from Cebu Daily News, the event happened last Sunday, May 26 in Mactan Newtown.

The Philippine’s biggest mango sago was shown publicly for the first time during the 1st Cebu Mango Festival.

According to the report, the dessert was made by Chef Richard Hao with the help of the culinary students from San Jose-Recoletos.

Chef and his team said they almost used 300 kilos of mangos, 30 kilos of sago, and 50 liters of milk to make the dessert. The mango sago has a weight of 200 kilos.

Based on the report, Chef Richard Hao and his students finished the mango sago after 5 hours and shared them to the people who participated in the event.

The President of Megaworld Cebu, Noli D. Hernandez, said the mangoes that were used for the tapioca were all freshly picked.

Hernandes said the dessert surely delighted the festival participants.
