There Could Be A Rise Of Dengue Fever Cases In Negros Oriental
DENGUE – Possible increase of Dengue cases in Negros Oriental this year foreseen by the Department of Health basing on a projected trend.

In a separate post, report reveals records of Dengue of this year (2019). The record has reached a huge 60,000 reported dengue cases.
Following this, the Department of Health (DOH) is foreseeing a possible increase on the current record of dengue cases, concluded after observing the recently projected trend of the well-known disease.
Dr. Sarah Talla – City Health Officer (CHO) from Dumaguete – revealed that most reported cases were from the first quarter of 2019.
In her statement, she revealed their expected increase after two years of low records of dengue:
“Lots of cases were already recorded in the first quarter of the year. We are seeing a trend, dengue cases are expected to rise on the third year following two years of low dengue incidence in the province.”
Provincial Officer Dr. Socrates Villamor of DOH in Negros Oriental claims that the City Health office have tracked and enlisted 270 dengue cases reported back in 2017 and 380 cases in 2018.
As of this now, 162 cases were recorded and validated in the province. Basing only on the records from January 1 to May 18.
Villamor also said that Dumaguete is the top City among other towns an cities with the most number of recorded dengue cases. They’re also the top 4, considering the whole region.

To address the concern, Dr. Villamor suggests that the City needs intensive dengue awareness campaigns and consider actions to combat dengue.
He also said that the people should begin before the rainy season, recommending the 4S strategy for dengue prevention:
“We should start our preparations now before the rainy season starts. Let us adopt the 4S strategies.”
