In the Philippines, the government agency that is in-charged with the water supply in Metro Manila is the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System or more commonly known as MWSS.
Under the MWSS are the Maynilad Water Services and the Manila Water being the provider in the opposing parts of Metro Manila.
Recently, following the water shortage issue which sparked in early 2019, the President made a move regarding the members of its board of trustees.
Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte appointed retired Army General Ricardo Morales as the MWSS Board of Trustees’ vice chairman.
Morales is set to replace Reynaldo Velasco who will continue to serve as the vice chairman of the Board until June 30, 2019.
In a phone call to the media based on the report, Velasco reportedly shared that he will take a step up and assume the chairmanship of the MWSS.
Franklin Demonteverde, the former chairman of the MWSS Board of Trustees, will be moved to the Judicial and Bar Council. Yet, Velasco clarified that Demonteverde still heads the Board pending their appointments.
