However, there are still places where it is hard to travel. It may be due to lack of infrastructures for easier transport or some other reasons.

In Negros Occidental, residents of Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City are using an improvised raft made of woven plastic drums, woods, and bamboo to cross a river.

The so-called “Titanic” helps the students to reach school and also to go back to their respective houses.

The 65-year-old Nilda Becaro has been operating the raft for more than 20 years and helped numerous students to finish their studies.

The grade 8 student Alyza Marie Jacildo said that riding “Titanic” is the fastest way to reach school.

The raft usually suspends its operation in Sum-ag River during rainy days to avoid accidents.

A resident named Merlyn Chavez explained that Titanic helps them a lot but building a hanging bridge in the area would be more convenient for them.
