Sumatra, Indonesia Hit by Earthquake with 6.2 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The United States Geological Survey recorded a 6.2 magnitude quake in the Southwest of the Sibolga in Sumatra, Indonesia.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the latest strong quakes recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental, Philippines.

There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Recently, the US Geological Survey recorded a quake in a part of Indonesia.

Earthquake

Based on a report on GMA News, the weather bureau recorded that a part of Sumatra, Indonesia was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 today, May 3, 2019.

According to the report, there were no immediate reports of damage or death caused by the quake.

Also, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center based in Hawaii has not issued a tsunami warning.

Currently, there are still no reports as to whether there are aftershocks expected due to the strong quake or none. We’ll keep you posted for updates or further information.
