Actor called out by PWD Philippines over post about PWDs.
PWD PHILIPPINES – An actor has been called out by the PWD Philippines following his comments about some PWDs using fake IDs to get ahead of line.
Persons with disabilities are given rightful and special treatment due to their situation anywhere in the world. This might be one of the social issues that affect a portion of populations but just to ensure equality, there are these laws and policies solely made for such special people.
Under R.A. 10754, here are the benefits of persons with disabilities (PWDs):
- 20% Discount and Value Added Tax Exemption on the purchase of certain goods and services such as Lodging Establishments, Restaurants, Recreation Centers, Purchase of Medicines and Foods for Special Medical Purposes, Medical and Dental Services, Diagnostic and Laboratory Fees and Professional Fees of Attending Doctors, Domestic Air and Sea Travel, Land Transportation Travel, Funeral and Burial Services for the Death of a PWD
- Educational Assistance
- Benefits from GSIS, SSS and Pag-Ibig based on their respective charters
- Special Discounts in Special Programs
- Express Lanes
And actor JM Rodriguez has recently been lambasted online after commenting something about other PWDs who are faking their identification cards just to be able to get ahead with other customers in a restaurant and be able to use the priority lane.
PWD Philippines’ statement regarding the matter says:
Sa mga hindi nakaka-intindi, ang pagiging PWD ay hindi kailangang naka wheelchair lang. May dalawang uri po ng PWD, yung may apparent disability, tulad ng naka wheelchair, at yung non-apparent tulad ng may epilepsy, stroke and cancer survivors, lupus, etc.
Nawa’y mas maintindihan ito ni Mr JM Rodriguez. hindi po napepeke nang madali ang PWD ID dahil may database po ang DOH na nakamonitor lahat ng may ID.
