Manila Water Customers to Receive Bill Rebates in June
The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) said that all Manila Water customers would get a bill rebate this June 2019.
Manila Water was set to give a bill rebate for the customers affected by the massive service interruptions.
The massive water service interruption causes inconvenience to thousands of Filipino consumers since March.
MWSS chief regulator Patrick Ty said that over 140,000 severely affected clients would receive a rebate of P2,197.94 each.
Ty explained that the residents who experienced at least 7 days with no water supply for 24 hours from March 6 – 31 are considered as severely affected consumers.
Residential customers who were not under the severely affected category would have P153.93 rebate per 10 cubic meters consumption.
“This amount was identified based on the list of 45 barangays released by Manila Water when the concessionaire offered a one-time bill waver last April. This is based on their inability to provide 24/7 uninterrupted water supply,” Ty said.
The water company has been fined with P1.13 billion due to the shortage of water supply in Metro Manila’s east zone.
