Luzon Grid Placed Under Yellow Alert on Monday (May 20), NGCP Says

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced that yellow alert will be raised in the Luzon Grid on Monday afternoon (May 20, 2019).

The Luzon Grid will be placed under yellow alert status starting 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm today, according to NGCP.

The power plant said that the Luzon Grid’s peak demand reached 10,937 Mega Watts against its available capacity which is 11, 915 MW.

The corporation explained that the yellow alert status does not mean power outages are necessary.

The Yellow Alert is just a condition wherein the capacity of the biggest plant online is more than its reserve.

NGCP said that the Department of Energy (DOE) will release further details and information regarding the alert status later today.
