Meralco Electricity Rates In May 2019 Set To Decrease
MERALCO – The Manila Electric company is set to implement a decrease on the electricity rates this May 2019.
Undeniably, in most households, one of the things that takes a huge portion in the pie of monthly budget is the electricity expenses. Every day, the members of the family is using electricity thus the charge continues to increase until the due date.
Some families even observe power conservation rules in their house to save money or to avoid big electricity bills at the end of the month. Meanwhile, recently, a good news crossed the surface.
Based on an article on GMA News, the Manila Electric Company or more commonly called Meralco is set to implement a decrease on the rates of its electricity. The rate reduction will be implemented this May 2019.
Undeniably, this good news will benefit a lot of people as most consumers in Luzon are under the said electric company.
According to the report, the over-all decrease on the electricity rates of Meralco is at 27.28 centavos per kilowatt-hour in May to P10.2866 per kWh.
In its statement, the electricity provider expressed that the decrease will be as much as Php 55.00 in the power bill of a household that consumes 200kWh.
Reportedly, the decrease in the electricity rates is because of the lower charges of the Power Supply Agreements (PSAs) and the Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
Amid the decrease on the power rates, Meralco is encouraging the consumers to practice ways on how to manage their consumption of electricity.
