MMDA Suspends Dry Run of Provincial Bus Ban on EDSA

Dry Run of Provincial Bus Ban on EDSA Suspended by MMDA

The dry run of provincial bus ban on EDSA has been temporarily suspended by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

On Monday (May 6, 2019), MMDA temporarily lifted up the dry run of province bus ban on EDSA.

MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said that the dry run would resume after the three agencies involved finalized the implementing rules and guidelines.

We will continue with the dry run once the guidelines and implementing rules have been ironed out by the three agencies involved,” Garcia said.

The three agencies involved were MMDA, Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Garcia said that the meeting between the agencies involved in the program was still pending.

The agency does not also want politics to become dominant on the policy due to the upcoming elections.

The Metro Manila Council Regulation 19-002 decision to revoke the business permits of all provincial public utility bus terminals and operators leads to the ban of provincial buses along EDSA.
