PCOO Sec. Andanar Says Duterte Admin Will Continue To Respect Press Freedom in PH
DUTERTE ADMIN – Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar said that the Duterte Administration will continue to respect press freedom in the Philippines.
Today, May 3, 2019, the world celebrates the World Press Freedom Day. In line with its celebration, the Communications Secretary spoke amid the allegations that the current administration is intervening with the freedom of the media.
Based on a recent social media post on the Facebook page of Inquirer, PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar expressed that the Duterte Admin will continue to respect press freedom in the Philippines.
According to the Communications Secretary, the public can hold on to it opposite to the allegations surrounding the matter.
Based on the post, Andanar even stressed the signing of the Presidential Task Force on Media Security is just one of the proof that the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte respects and protects the members of the press.
The PTFoMS was among those signed by the President during his first month as the head of the Republic. The PCOO Secretary said his office will continue its campaign against disinformation or the circulation of fake news. According to him, it is one of those that violates the freedom of the press.
