Leni Robredo Ask If “Bikoy” Can Be Admitted Into Government’s Witness Protection Program
LENI ROBREDO – Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo asked if “Bikoy” can be admitted into the state’s witness protection program.
Family members of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte were linked to illegal drugs after a man uploaded a controversial video titled “Ang Totoong Narcolist.”
A man named “Bikoy” claimed that he worked for drug syndicate led by Duterte’s children Kitty Duterte and Paolo Duterte.
“Bikoy” also stated that senatorial candidate Bong Go and Sara Duterte’s husband Mans Carpio were also members of the syndicate.
President Duterte’s family and Bong Go denied all those accusation.
In a previous article, the uploader of “Ang Totoong Narcolist” was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation.
Atty. Charito Zamora confirmed that the uploader was finally arrested for cybercrime.
“The guy that was arrested by the NBI was the one who uploaded the ‘Bikoy videos’ for cyber libel, not Bikoy himself,” said Zamora.
Based on a report from Inquirer, Vice President Leni Robredo asked if “Bikoy” can be admitted into the witness protection program of the government.
“‘Di ba dapat, kasi parang whistleblower din siya? Hindi ba dapat bigyan ng proteksyon para malaman kung totoo o hindi ang sinasabi? Kasi hindi naman natin, wala naman tayong way of knowing kung totoo o hindi,” said Robredo.
Under Section 3 of R.A 6981 or the Witness Protection, Security and Benefit Act stated that if a person has information about a crime, he is subjected to be given protection from the government.
According to the report, Leni Robredo was intrigued by the bank accounts that “Bikoy” mentioned in the video.
“May sinasabi siyang mga bank accounts. Bakit hindi tingnan kung totoo? Kasi ano lang naman eh, madali naman i-check iyon,” she said.
Based on the report, the vice president said that there is no harm in investigating the man’s claims. She is just among the people who wanted to know the truth.
“Kung hindi totoo, eh ‘di gustong sabihin, nagsisinungaling iyong Bikoy,” Robredo said.
