DOLE Releases Regular, Special Non-Working Holidays Pay Rules for 2019
PAY RULES – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) released the pay rules for regular and special non-working holidays for 2019.
Employees typically look forward to holidays because it’s the only time they receive an income without having to work at all.
Holidays really is a good day to unwind or travel somewhere so we have to make sure we are entitled to receive that salary.
Based on a report from ABS-CBN News, DOLE just released the compensation guidelines for special and regular holidays this year.
The government agency said employees are entitled to get their full pay in regular holidays. If they arrive for work on that day, their salary will be doubled.
If the worker exceeded 8 hours of duty, he/she is entitled to a 30 percent additional hourly rate.
Here are the list 2019’s regular holidays:
- January 1 – New Year’s Day
- April 9 – Araw ng Kagitingan
- April 18 – Maundy Thursday
- April 19 – Good Friday
- May 1 – Labor Day
- June 12 – Independence Day
- August 26 – National Heroes Day
- November 30 – Bonifacio Day
- December 25 – Christmas Day
- December 30 – Rizal Day
The dates of Muslim holidays Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha is still to be determined.
According to the report, the special non-working days apply a “no work, no pay” rules.
If ever the company wanted an employee to work during a special non-working day, he/she will receive full payment with an additional 30 percent on his/her basic salary.

- February 5 – Chinese New Year
- February 25 – EDSA People Power Revolt
- April 20 – Black Saturday
- August 21 – Ninoy Aquino Day
- November 1 – All Saints’ Day
- November 2 – All Souls’ Day
- December 8 – Feast of the Immaculate Conception
- December 24 – Christmas Eve
- December 31 – New Year’s Eve
