Leyte Hit by Earthquake with 4.0 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.0 magnitude quake in Leyte today, April 26, 2019.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.

This morning, a 4.3 magnitude quake has also rocked the Ilocos Region and, recently, another quake hit Leyte.

At 10:44 am today, April 26, 2019, Albuera, Leyte was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0.

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Leyte was located at 10.95°North, 124.75°East – 007 km North 60° East of Albuera, Leyte. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 002 kilometers.

Based on the bulletin posted by Phivolcs on its official Twitter page, Intensity II and Intensity III were felt in Ormoc City.

According to Phivolcs, there are no expected damages caused by the quake and as well as aftershocks.
