Luzon Grid Under Red Alert According to National Grid Corporation

NATIONAL GRID CORPORATION – The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) declared a red alert on the Luzon grid today, April 25, 2019.

Since yesterday, April 24, 2019, power transmission in several areas in Luzon are facing problems. Red and yellow alerts were announced by the NGCP yesterday in several areas in the region.

Many people were worried on the case of the insufficient power supply in several areas in Luzon.

Meanwhile, at 11:25 in the evening yesterday, the Yellow Alert declared on Luzon was lifted. The NGCP assured that there is already a sufficient generating capacity.

However, recently, another Red Alert status was declared on Luzon.

Based on the social media post on the Facebook page of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, Luzon grid is under Red Alert and Yellow Alert today, April 25, 2019.

The Red Alert will run from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM while the Yellow Alert will run from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Based on the post, there is only 10,707MW available capacity and the peak demand is 10,534MW. The NGCP stated that the Department of Energy (DOE) will announce its cause later today.
