Senator Francis Pangilinan’s Remarks Regarding The President’s Threat To Canada
PANGILINAN – Senator Francis Pangilinan scoffed at President Rodrigo Duterte’s statement threatening to wage war against Canada.
President Rodrigo Duterte Recently stated that he is prepared to wage war against Canada. This is after Canada failed to take back their garbage sent to the country that was seized by the Bureau of Customs back in 2013-2014.
President Duterte said he would declare war with Canada if they didn’t take their trash back.
This is according to the article from Inquirer. Based on the article,
The president said the following statement in a situation briefing after the 6.1 magnitude earthquake in Luzon:
“I want a boat prepared. I’ll give a warning to Canada, maybe next week, that they better pull that thing out or I will set sail [to Canada]…”
These are the initial threats of the President.
“…doon sa Canada, ibuhos ang yang basura nila doon.”
“…to Canada, I’ll dump their garbage there,” he added.
The president also said that he will order to load the garbage in a ship and advise Canada that their garbage will be sent to them. He said Canada should prepare a ‘grand reception’ and ‘eat it if they want to’.
In a Twitter post by Francis Kiko Pangilinan, he appeared to have scoffed at the president’s remark:
“Gigiyerahin ang Canada dahil sa basura pero walang imik sa China sa pagpapalusot ng iligal na droga at pagsakop sa ating mga isla. Weh.”
“Waging war against Canada because of garbage but can’t do anything about China smuggling drugs to the country and taking over our islands. Weh.”
Meanwhile, the president’s spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a Palace briefing on April 10 that the better action would be “…to file a diplomatic protest and then raise that as an issue in bilateral meeting between the two countries.”
That is all there is to it, at least for now. We’ll post updates as soon as we got them.
