Comelec Gives Update on 2019 Midterm Election this May 13

COMELEC – The Commission on Election gave an update on the upcoming 2019 midterm election this May 13.

We are now less than a month away from the 2019 Election. There will be political poll for both the local and the national level of government. The said midterm election will be held in May 13.

A lot of incumbent and aspiring candidates have filed their candidacies. In the national level, there were election for senators, members of the House of Representatives, and party-lists.

In the local government level, the people will have to vote for a new mayor and vice mayor in the cities and municipalities and as well as a set of new councilors. The whole event is supervised by the Commission on Election.

Recently, the Comelec gave an update on the upcoming 2019 midterm election this May 13.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN citing RG Cruz’s post, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez expressed that they are 90% percent ready for the 2019 Election this May 13.

According to Jimenez, their preparedness would have been at 95% already if not because of the recent earthquake. Central Luzon was recently hit by a quake with a magnitude of 6.1 leaving damages and deaths in some areas.

Based on the report, currently, the Comelec is in the process of analyzing the readiness of the facilities that would be used for the upcoming political poll. They will be checking these facilities most especially those that were in the areas affected by the quake.

Meanwhile, currently, there are no recommendations yet for changing the facilities to be used for the upcoming election.

Aside from checking on the facilities, the Commission is also set to start shipping the ballots to be used in May 13. Around 18,000 would be shipped and they will prioritize those that will be brought to far-flung places.
