Senator Sergio Osmeña’s Statement About The Senatorial Seats Allegedly Sold for P50 Million Each
SENATORIAL SEATS – Eight senatorial seats were allegedly sold for 50 million pesos each during the 2016 national elections according to senatorial candidate Sergio “Serge” Osmeña.
The senator claimed that the Philippines’ Commission on Elections cheated him which caused him to go down below the ranks during the elections.
Sergio Osmeña III ended up in rank 14 in the 2016 elections. He revealed the alleged cheating in his statement during an interview with ANC (ABS-CBN News Channel) Early Edition.
When asked about the problems during the 2016 elections, the Senator claimed:
“Cheating. The go******d Comelec [Commission on Elections] cheated me.”
The senator also said that he was way up the ranks during the polls but he went down when he was allegedly cheated when the Senate seats were sold.
According to him, he went down to rank 11 from rank 6 during the senatorial elections because of the alleged cheating. He said this in his statement:
“They did not cheat me itself. They cheated so I went down. So I went down to number 11 from number six. But that was because they sold eight seats at P50 million each.”
Based on Inquirer, he explained the how the selling of senatorial seats affected his place in the rankings. According to the article, he also stated:
“So they sold these eight seats and they added six and a half percent to those eight seats. Exactly six and a half or 7.”
This explains why and how he ended up in the 14th rank right behind Francis Tolentino in the list of senatorial candidates.
Senator Sergio Osmeña III, although he was making sensitive claims, says he does not have proofs to back his allegations. Based on the article, he even said:
“I have evidence based on the final results. I have no evidence on how they did it because it’s all done by computer.”
