Dinagat Hit by Earthquake with 5.3 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 5.3 magnitude quake in Dinagat today, April 1 2019.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the latest quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Recently, Phivolcs recorded another quake in a part of Dinagat. At 10:16:10 am today, April 1, 2019, Dinagat was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3.

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Dinagat was located at 10.56°North, 125.99°East – 050 km North 64° East of Loreto.

The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 031 kilometers. Based on the bulletin posted by Phivolcs on its official Twitter page, Intensity I was felt in Talibon, Bohol, Roxas City, and Gingoog City.

According to Phivolcs, there are no expected damage caused by the quake that hit Dinagat but there may be aftershocks.
