PAGASA Issues El Niño Latest Updates For March-May 2019

The state weather bureau PAGASA has issued the latest updates regarding the weak El Niño expected to be experience in the country from March to May 2019.

The Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) released the recent updates regarding the weak El Niño.

PAGASA Regional Services Division Officer in Charge Anthony Joseph Lucero said that the dry spell would affect Northern Mindanao.

The weak El Niño was expected to affect the weather system in Misamis Occidental and Region 10.

Misamis Occidental will experience drought while Camiguin will be affected by the dry spell.

By the end of March 2019, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Oriental would experience a dry weather condition.

Below normal rains is expected over the province of Bukidnon from March to May, according to Lucero.

Lucero also said that the farmers with no irrigation on their farms would be affected by the dry spell.

In May, almost normal rainfall is expected in the country due to the return of the southwest monsoon or “Habagat”.

However, the weather agency explained that the forecasts may indicate errors but ensured to release monthly update.
