Davao Occidental Hit Today by Earthquake with 4.0 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.0 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental this afternoon, February 28, 2019.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the latest quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Recently, Phivolcs recorded another quake in a part of Davao. At 01:16:30 in the afternoon today, February 28, 2019, Davao Occidental was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0.

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 05.61°North, 126.38°East – 090 km South 70° East of Jose Abad Santos.

The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 052 kilometers.

Based on the bulletin posted by Phivolcs on its official Twitter page, there is no expected damage caused by the quake that hit Davao Occidental but there may be aftershocks.
