Bureau of Immigration To Deport Chinese Woman Over Viral Taho Incident

Bureau of Immigration Seeks the Deportation of Chinese Woman in Viral Taho Incident

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) recommends the deportation of the Chinese woman in the viral ‘taho’ incident at the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3).

Last weekend, the Chinese student Jiale Zhang becomes the headlines of several local news outlets and social media pages after throwing her cup of “Taho” to a cop guarding the train station.

The Chinese national splashed a cup of drink at Police Officer 1 William Cristobal at Metro Rail Transit Line 3 Boni Station in Mandaluyong City after reminding her of no-liquid policy.

The 23-year-old lady was arrested after showing a disrespectful act and unpleasant behavior towards the Filipino police.

Recently, BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said that the agency recommends the filing of deportation case against Zhang.

“Our legal team saw that there was probable cause to file a deportation case against her and the bureau can file a case motu proprio, especially since there are photos showing what happened,” Sandoval said.

Zhang poses a risk to public interest of violating immigration laws for showing arrogance and disobedience to the authorities, according to Sandoval.

The foreign student could be deported even her parents are already permanent residents of the Philippines since entry visa grant is only a privilege and not a right.
