Senate Approves 20% Student Fare Discount On All Sea, Air & land Transportation
SENATE – The Philippine Senate approved the 20% student fare discount on all public transportation.
The Philippine Senate consist of 24 senators and each of them can serve the country for two consecutive terms.
Current senators include Franklin Drilon, Vicente Sotto III, Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao, and Francis Pangilinan among others.
The duties of the senators were to create law and policies together with the House of Representative and make it valid and win with majority approval.
Following a previous article, the Senate recently approved the Magna Carta for poor. This bill is in favor of the poor people in the Philippines.
If the bill is approved into law, the government will provide the poor enough access to the basic services like health services.
Meanwhile another Senate Bill was approved to its final reading regarding the privileges of the students on the public utility vehicles.
Last February 4, the House of the Representative approved the 20% fare discount for all students on sea and air transport.
Based on a report from Inquirer, the student just have to present a school ID and other documents proving that he/she is enrolled at a certain school.
The Bill of the Student Fare Discount Act grants 20% discount on all busses, jeepney, tricycle, shuttle services, Light Rail Transit (LRT), Metro Manila Rail Transit (MRT), Philippine National Railways (PNR), and domestic flights.
According to the report, the law will be effective as soon as the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte sign the Student Fare Discount Act.
It this bill will be approved into law, it will be a very good favor for the students considering they are not employed yet and haven’t earned their own money.
