Health Secretary Francisco Duque III Hits PAO Over Statement Ruining Filipino’s Trust Towards DOH
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III hits Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Chief Persida Acosta over the claims destroying the public trust in DOH.
Duque lambasted Acosta for making claims affecting the trust of the public towards the Department of Health (DOH).
Acosta accused DOH of paying an amount of P50,000 to the families of alleged Dengvaxia victims in order to drop their complaints.
The DOH secretary expressed his disappointment towards PAO describing the statement as baseless accusations.
“Baseless statements like these cause serious damage to our reputation as the primary government entity mandated to protect the health of all Filipinos,” Duque said.
DOH officials including Duque and Dengvaxia manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur executives are now facing charges regarding the death of children after receiving the anti-dengue vaccine.
PAO chief accusations could lead Filipino people to refuse receiving vaccines that might cause increase in cases of measles vaccine-preventable diseases.
The World Health organization (WHO) Philippines explained that unvaccinated young children were at risk of measles, complications, or even death.
