JAMES INGRAM – Here is a trip down the memory lane on the journey of American singer James Ingram in the music industry.

Recently, one of the R&B legends in the international music industry, James Ingram, died. At the age of 66 years old, the American singer-songwriter passed away but his songs will surely live forever.

Born on February 16, 1952 in Akron, Ohio, James did not only become a singer and songwriter but also a record producer and instrumentalist. He started as a band member of Revelation Funk which appeared in the movie Dolemite.

James Ingram has also played the keyboards for prominent American singer Ray Charles. As a singer and musician, he has released several studio and compilation albums.

James Ingram released the studio albums It’s Your Night in 1983,  Never Felt So Good in 1986, It’s Real in 1989, Always You in 1993, and Stand in 2008.

In 1991, his compilation albums Greatest Hits: The Power of Great Music was released. It was followed by the Forever More in 1999.

James is famous for many of his songs including the Just Once, Baby, Come To Me, She Loves Me, Somewhere Out There, I Don’t Have the Heart, When You Love Someone, Where Did My Heart Go, and Yah Mo B There.

With regards to awards and recognition, James is a two-time awardee of Grammy as Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for One Hundred Ways in 1982 and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for Yah Mo B There in 1985.

From 1982 up to 1996, James also had several nominations for different Grammy awards. Aside from his Grammy recognition, he is also a two-time awardee of Academy Award.

Undeniably, James Ingram is really a great loss to the music industry… A legend in the music arena. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
