Prices Of Fish Rising Up While Prices Of Vegetables Reduced In Metro Manila Markets

METRO MANILA – Due to a limited supply, the prices of fish rose up in selected Metro Manila markets, while prices of vegetables have decreased.

According to GMA News via their report on 24 Oras, the price of fresh galunggong (round scad) rose up to ₱250 per kg at the Farmers Market, and
₱200 at Tandang Sora market, compared to the usual ₱200 and ₱180 prices of which they are frozen or imported.

A fish vendor named Minda Dechavez said that this is due to the cold weather that they were barely to get and sell more fish.

Meanwhile, prices of other fish also increased: pampano at
₱500 per kilo; salay-salay at ₱280 per kilo; tulingan at ₱280 per kilo; bangus
from a range of ₱180 to ₱200 per kilogram, and tilapia from ₱90 to ₱120 per kilogram.

As per the report, vegetable prices have reduced to half due to oversupply: tomato at ₱50 from its initial price of ₱100; calamansi at ₱60 from ₱120; and broccoli at ₱150 from ₱300. The price of cauliflower, however, has unchanged at ₱120 per kilogram.
