Based on a recent social media post on the Twitter page of Manila Bulletin, the order came after the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) tagged the zoo as the major pollutant to the bay.

According to the post, the zoo lacks Sewage Treatment Plan (STP). The closure is for the purpose of “proper assessment and study”.
