Today is First Voting Day for Bangsamoro Organic Law Plebiscite

BANGSAMORO ORGANIC LAW PLEBISCITE – Today is the first voting day for the plebiscite of the Republic Act 11054 or the Bangsamoro Organic Law.

Under the Duterte Administration, lots of bills were passed including the Bangsamoro Organic Law or the Republic Act 11054. It was in July 2018 when President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed the bill into a law.

The BOL sprang from the agreement between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on peace talks. It repeals the act that made the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Under the Bangsamoro Organic Law, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao is set to be created. A plebiscite was scheduled for its ratification.

Previously, the Commission on Election (COMELEC) set two dates for the BOL Plebiscite – January 21, 2019 and February 6, 2019.

Today is the first day of voting for the Bangsamoro Law plebiscite. According to News5, the following are the participants of the voting today:

  • Lanao Del Sur
  • Maguindanao
  • Sulu
  • Tawi-Tawi
  • Basilan
  • Isabela City
  • Cotabato City
