Davao Occidental Hit by Earthquake with 5.0 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 5.0 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental this morning, January 19, 2019.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the latest quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Recently, Phivolcs recorded another quake in a part of Davao. At 02:52 in the morning today, January 19, 2019, Davao Occidental was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0.

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Davao Occidental had a depth of 149 kilometers.

As of this writing, the bulletin posted by Phivolcs is not accessible due to some technical errors on its Twitter page. We’ll keep you posted for further information as soon as it returns to its normal operation.
