Lito Atienza Speak Up Against President Duterte’ Insults To Bishops, Priests
LITO ATIENZA – Former Mayor Lito Atienza spoke up against President Duterte’s insults to bishops and priests.
Filipino politician Lito Atienza is a former city mayor of Manila. He also served as the secretary of the Department of Environment and Resources (DENR).
Last 2007, the politician stepped down from public service and became the host of the Kapuso tv show Maynila.
Lito Atienza is the loving father of ABS-CBN weather anchor Kim Atienza and newscaster, Arnold Atienza. He also considered himself a religious person.
Based on a report from Inquirer, Atienza defended the Catholic Church against President Rodrigo Duterte’s insults.
His statements rooted after Duterte urged the Filipino Catholics to stop going to church but instead build their own chapels at home. The president believed that the priest and bishops are corrupting money from the people.

“Many have tried but failed. I’d rather that the President devotes his time to giving Filipinos a better life and I want him to succeed in that,” he said.
Atienza suggested that the president should instead focus on his aim to banish corruption and campaign against the illegal substance.
Based on the report, Lito Atienza said that President Rodrigo Duterte should not underestimate, insult and put the name of the bishops and priest in danger. He expressed that he will always believe in his faith and continue defending it.
