The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, will begin capturing motorists who will violate the Yellow Lane Policy starting this January 16 (Wednesday).

According to GMA News, MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago said that they will start the dry run by counting the number of violators, the number of those who suddenly change lanes, and the number of those who likes to frequently swerve.

Pialago further said that motorists are advised to stay on their lane and follow the curve as it will cause problems in the road if done otherwise.

Pialago added that they will put road markings in the Kalayaan stretch in order to lead where the markings match there. “After merging the traffic, they have to stay on their lane”, she added.

As per the report, when asked when the actual implementation of the yellow lane policy would happen in the area, Pialago said that they were waiting since the EEI will occupy other lanes so that they will finalize their own lanes. Thus, road markings are subject to change.

The policy aims to ease heavy traffic in the area as well as to avoid road accidents. Violators, according to Pialago, will be fined ₱1000.
