Rodrigo Duterte Says Philippines Won’t Buy Arms, Military Equipment From The US

RODRIGO DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Duterte said Philippines won’t buy arms and military equipment from the US.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte was also known as Rody or Dingong is a politician from Davao City. He is the 16th president following Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

Digong was dubbed as the “Dirty Harry of Davao” or “The Punisher”. His ironclad leadership made Davao City one of the safest city in the world.

Rodrigo Duterte has served as mayor in Davao City for many years before he became the president of the Philippines last June 2016.

The current president is surrounded by controversies including the War on Drugs and his collaboration with China’s president Xi Jinping.

Last Thursday at San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan, Rodrigo Duterte revealed that he has no plans of purchasing military equipment from the United States and China.

“Pagka bumili ka sa China o maybe Russia, magsali ka sa embargo, you cannot trade with America”

Do not expect me to buy arms from the United States,” he added.

Based on the report, President Duterte stated that the United States was putting his country in a difficult situation. He is really certain that he will never buy arms and military equipment from the US.

Duterte said if they did not only criticize him on War on Drugs maybe he might have accepted their offer.

“I will not agree to buy (from the US). Pangit tingnan. Hindi maganda. It does not sit well with the Filipino na ganunin ka tapos pasunodsunod ka na lang. Wala naman akong galit sa kanila. Sila ‘yung nauna. And they criticized me heavily dito sa war on drugs,” he said.

According to the report, Rodrigo Duterte was thinking of South Korea and Israel as his potential military arms suppliers.
