Indonesia Hit by Earthquake with 6.6 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 6.6 magnitude quake in Indonesia.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the latest quakes recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental, Philippines.

There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Recently, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a quake in Indonesia. Based on Manila Bulletin, USGS recorded that Indonesia was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6.

Based on the report, the USGS said that the quake was located 174 km (108 miles) north-northwest of Ternate City in Molucca islands, Indonesia. There were aftershocks but no tsunami warning was raised.

Reportedly, aftershocks with magnitudes of 5.0 to 5.1 followed the quake which jolted the place with a depth of 60.5 km.

Meanwhile, according to the Tohomon emergency disaster agency spokesperson, “no damage or casualties” have been heard for North Sulawesi.
