Bureau Of Immigration warning over Tony Labrusca NAIA incident.
TONY LABRUSCA NAIA INCIDENT – The Bureau Of Immigration issues warning to Kapamilya heartthrob Tony Labrusca over NAIA controversy.
The actor Tony Labrusca is currently under hot waters following controversial encounter with the immigration officers of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The problem started after he was only granted a 30-day stay in the country because of his citizenship.
In an official statement the actor has released, he admitted his mistake and said that he has done it out of frustration. He said, “It was very upsetting for me. And I’m sorry that somehow, I took my frustrations out on the officer. But never did I ever call anyone stupid, nor an idiot much less brag about being a celebrity.”
Moreover, “I know for a fact that the officer is merely doing her job. My biggest mistake perhaps was letting my emotion get the better of me and again, I’m sorry.”
With this, the Bureau of Immigration has warned the actor about the limitations of the privileges of balikbayans or returning Filipinos. Republic Act 6767 accordingly states that the privileges are given to former Pinoys naturalized abroad as per Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente.
In a report from The PhilStar, Dana Krizia Sandoval, spokesperson for the BI, said, “The privilege is for former Filipinos and their immediate family members who are traveling with them. If these family members are not traveling with them, then they are not qualified.”
Tony was not accompanied by any of his parents when he arrived in the country. He has Filipino parents and both are American passport holder. His father is actor Anthony “Boom” Labrusca and his mother is Angel Jones.
