Davao Oriental Hit by 2 Earthquakes Today (January 3, 2019)
EARTHQUAKES – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded two(2) quakes in Davao Oriental today, January 3, 2019.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
One of the latest quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.
Recently, Phivolcs recorded two(2) quakes in a part of Davao Oriental Today, January 3, 2019. Davao Oriental was hit by earthquakes with magnitudes of 3.0 and 2.9.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental and all quakes were tectonic in origin.
The 3.0 magnitude quake was located at 05.44°N, 127.14°E – 179 km S 41° E of Governor Generoso and has a 019 km depth of focus. It occurred at 10:17:26 in the morning today.
Just around an hour after, a 2.9 magnitude quake hit the same place. According to Phivolcs, the quake was located at 05.63°N, 126.41°E – 117 km S 18° E of Governor Generoso.
It rocked the place at 11:36:37 in the morning today and has a 002 km depth of focus.
On the latest bulletin released by Phivolcs, it is stated that no aftershock and damage caused by the quake are expected.
