Davao Oriental Hit by 3 Earthquakes Today (January 2, 2019)

EARTHQUAKES – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded three(3) quakes in Davao Oriental today, January 2, 2019.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the latest quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Recently, Phivolcs recorded three(3) quakes in a part of Davao Oriental Today, January 2, 2019, Davao Oriental was hit by earthquakes with magnitudes of 3.6, 3.1, and 2.7.

Earthquakes

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental and all quakes were tectonic in origin.

The 3.6 magnitude quake was located at 05.55°N, 127.08°E – 163 km S 48° E of Governor Generoso and has a 123 km depth of focus It occurred at 06:07:28 in the morning today.

The 3.1 and 2.7 magnitude quakes occurred at 06:11:16 and 06:54:49 in the morning, respectively. The former was located at 05.76°N, 126.88°E – 125 km S 41° E of Governor Generoso while the latter was located at05.54°N, 126.80°E – 147 km S 33° E of Governor Generoso.

On the latest bulletin released by Phivolcs, it is stated that no aftershock and damage caused by the quake are expected.
