Davao Occidental Jolted by Earthquake with 3.3 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 3.3 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental this afternoon, January 2, 2019.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
One of the latest quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.
Recently, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Davao Occidental. At 02:13:23 in the afternoon today, January 2, 2019, Davao Occidental was jolted by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located 05.14°North, 126.12°East – 079 km South 65° East of Sarangani.
The quake was tectonic in origin and it has a 057 km. depth of focus. Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that there is no expected damage and aftershocks of the said quake.
