GLORIA DIAZ – The Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz welcomes newly-crowned Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray in their “exclusive club”.
The hailed Miss Universe 1969 is Gloria Diaz, the very first crown of the country to have from the said prestigious pageant. Her victory was then followed by Miss Universe 1973 Margarita Moran, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and newly-crowned Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
Filipino fashion model Janine Marie Raymundo Tugonon even said after Catriona won the competition, “And proud of how @catriona_gray answers genuinely with intellect, confidence, and heart. MOST PREPARED MISS PHILIPPINES WE’VE EVER SENT”
Catriona Gray has this very remarkable “silver lining” answer as her full winning response says, “I’ve always taught myself to look for the beauty in it, to look for the beauty in the faces of the children, and to be grateful. I would bring this aspect as a Miss Universe to see situations with a silver lining, and to assess where I could give something, where I could provide something as a spokesperson.”
And now, after winning the 4th Miss Universe crown for the country, Gloria Diaz welcomed her in their “exclusive club” in an Instagram post which includes the previously hailed Pinay Miss Universe.

One commenter from an entertainment site has stated, “Thank you, GLORIA, MARGARITA, PIA, and CATRIONA for bringing HONORS to our country, the PHILIPPINES!”
Another one also indicated, “We must aim to have a PURE PINAY MISS UNIVERSE in a few years to keep Gloria Diaz company in that list and to shut the mouths of our haters who insist that we only win by hiring halfies and that Filipinas only beautiful if we have foreign blood.”
