Firearms of Guimbal, Iloilo Mayor Garin and Son Rep. Garin Surrendered
ILOILO MAYOR GARIN – Guimbal, Iloilo Mayor Oscar Garin and Representative Richard Garin were surrendered.
Currently, Iloilo Mayor Oscar Garin and Rep. Garin are involved in issues following their alleged “mauling” of a police officer. The two Iloilo politicians allegedly disarmed and hurt PO3 Federico Macaya Jr.
The incident allegedly happened following Macaya being able to settle the “mauling” conflict in an event held on December 22. The victim reportedly refused to file charges.
On the part of Rep. Garin, according to him, he was disappointed and his actions were born out of “extreme frustration”. For him, it was a “betrayal of public trust” and the suspect was a “habitual delinquent”.
The congressman apologized for his move and assured that he will take full responsibility
In line with the issue, the permits of Iloilo Mayor Oscar Garin and Rep. Richard Garin to own and possess firearms were already cancelled by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Based on a recent social media post on the Facebook page of RMN Iloilo, the firearms of Iloilo Mayor Garin and his son, Rep. Garin, were already surrendered.
The issue has also reached President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The 73-year-old President wants charges to be filed against the two politicians over the incident.
