Pres. Duterte Orders Filing of Charges Vs. Iloilo Mayor Garin, Son over the Alleged “Mauling” Incident
ILOILO MAYOR GARIN – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte ordered for the filing of charges against Guimbal, Iloilo Mayor Oscar Garin and his son, Iloilo Representative Oscar “Richard” Garin Jr., over the alleged “mauling” incident.
Recently, a news report about a police officer who was allegedly disarmed and hurt by two politicians crossed the surface. It gained the attention of the public and as well as Pres. Duterte.
Guimbal, Iloilo Mayor Garin and his son, Representative Garin, got upset after the victim in a “mauling” incident on December 22 did not file a case following the settlement officiated by PO3 Federico Macaya Jr.

Based on a recent post on Bombo Radyo, Cong. Garin has released a statement stressing that the suspect was a “habitual delinquent”. According to him, the move of the officer is a “betrayal of public trust”.
Furthermore, the congressman tagged it as a form of going over his position and is against the contract of the Philippine National Police (PNP). He apologized over his action and emphasized that it is not directed to PNP.
Based on the post, Cong. Garin described his action as a “display of extreme frustration”. According to him, he will take full responsibility for it.

According to GMA News, the said alleged incident has reached Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The Chief Executive wants the two Iloilo politicians involved in the incident to be charged.

Pres. Duterte reportedly ordered Interior Secretary Eduardo to file charges against Iloilo Mayor Garin and his son, Cong. Garin.
“I will ask General Año to take a look, investigate. I am not urging him. I am ordering him to file a case against the two,” the President said.
Based on the report, Western Visayas Police Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao expressed that Guimbal, Iloilo Mayor Garin and his son will be facing charges for what was allegedly done to his personnel.
