Increased Fines for Illegal Parking To Be Imposed by MMDA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) was set to impose increased fines for illegal parking effective next year.

The corresponding penalty fees for illegal parking or obstruction of road has been raised by MMDA.

MMDA lifted the P200 to P1,000 for illegally parked attended vehicle while the P500 fee for unattended vehicles was raised to P2,000.

The obstruction of road was raised from P150 to P1,000, which will be effective starting January 7, 2019.

Celine Pialago, the spokesperson and Assistant Secretary of MMDA said that illegally parked vehicles could face two violations:

  • Illegal Parking
  • Obsttruction

Pialago said that MMDA enforcer could issue more than one ticket to the motorists who will commit traffic violations.

She also explained that violation tickets may be issued within 3-hour intervals throughout the entire day wherein violators could pay up to P15,000 fine.

The official also warned the motorists that in the following areas:

  • Avenues
  • Mabuhay lanes
  • Major thoroughfares
  • Emergency areas
  • Fire hydrant area
  • Pedestrian lane
  • Intersection
  • Driveways

Pialago also said that MMDA suspends the coding on December 25, 2018 (Christmas Day).
