Pasig Court Releases Arrest Warrant Vs. Maria Ressa of Rappler
RAPPLER – A Pasig Court released an arrest warrant against Rappler’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Maria Ressa.
Maria Ressa, the CEO and executive editor of the online news website, was previously faced with tax issues. Recently, a court has released an arrest warrant against her.
Based on a social media post of GMA News on Twitter, the Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 265 released the arrest warrant against the CEO of Rappler and it was signed by Judge Danilo A. Buemio.
Based on the arrest order, the court ordered law enforcers to arrest Rappler CEO Maria A. Ressa over the alleged violation of Section 255 of NIRC of 1997. The authorities were ordered to bring her to Judge Buemio.
The case involving Ressa is bailable and the amount of the bail is fixed at Php 60,000.00. The camp of the accused may deposit the amount to the nearest city, municipal, provincial, or internal revenue office.
