The technology giant Samsung Electronics has issued an apology to the employees for factory cancer cases after working in the company.
On Friday (November 23, 2018), Samsung co-president Kim Ki-nam apologized to the factory workers suffering from cancer and other illnesses after working at the tech giant.
The employees who worked at Samsung’s semiconductor factories developed cancer and some of them are dying.
About 320 workers obtained work-related diseases after being employed by the tech giant, according to the campaign groups.
“We sincerely apologize to the workers who suffered from illness and their families, We have failed to properly manage health risks at our semiconductor and LCD factories,” Ki-Nam said.
The employees allegedly suffered from miscarriages, congenital illnesses, 16 types of cancer, and other rare diseases.
Samsung also announced that they will pay over 150 million won or $133,000 compensation per case.
However, Relatives’ leader Hwang Sang-gi whose 22-year-old son died of leukemia said that they will accept the apology although it is not enough for the victims and their families.
